Stillwater College of Allied Health offers Phlebotomy Technician Program. Classes offered twice per week with morning and evening schedule. The total length of the program is 2-3 months (depending on the schedule) including practice at our lab. Students also participate in health fairs offered throughout the year.
Responsibilities of a phlebotomist include:
- Collecting timed specimens, being aware of the importance of timing in instances such as therapeutic drug levels, etc.; follow established guidelines for laboratory specimens
- Initial, date, and record blood speciment tubes collected
- Match all laboratory requisition forms and specimen tubes; properly complete laboratory accession record
- Following all laboratory safety rules
- Ordering and processing incoming supplies
- Maintaining phlebotomy area clean and stocked with supplies
- Keeping blood drawing trays neat, and clean
- Performing other duties such as data collecting, filing, charging, aiding technologists
- Reporting possible hazards to the Laboratory Supervisor

Evening Classes (Tuesdays and Thursdays 4 pm to 9 pm)
